"I saw this on someone, and thought a while about purchasing it. At almost 250 dollars, it's not a cheap buy. But it is VERY warm. I live in NYC, and it can get cold here. I like the fact that it's very light and it's like a fleece interior. The color I got is the denim blue, and at first, I didn't like it much for the color. If they would make it in the dark royal blue color, it would be the best (thats the color I originally saw on someone else, guess they discontinued it, but the denim blue ain't that bad)
On cold days, you will need a sweater or something warm like that for it to keep you warm though. But if it's like between 45-60 degree's you can wear this with just a t-shirt underneath, and it should keep you warm.45-50 degrees and below, you'll need to consider a sweater underneath though, so just keep that in mind. I'll try it when it get's to the 30's and possibly lower with a sweater when it get's colder though. But I'll find out soon (since it's already late oct.)
Lastly, the other thing I like about it, is that it's water-resistant. It was raining, and I just jumped up and down, and shook my arms, and the water droplets just dropped off. I had an umbrella, but the cool thing was that they just beaded right off. I wouldn't say it's 'water proof'. But it works great with an umbrella.
One downside though, is that the wind does kind of get inside. Especially if it's 50 and below. You'll feel it, so if it's a windy day, I would recommend a sweater. If it's a calm day and just cold, I think you could do a t-shirt down to 50 degrees, no problem. Windy, and below 50, use a sweater or something warmer. You'll especially feel the cold from the wind on the sleeves.
In closing, it's a great jacket. You'l be VERY pleased. Although I don't think it can justify it's steep price of $229, it's made, and works very well. As for comparing, I bought a M APEX BIONIC JACKET, at the same time in black (because I liked them both and wanted just a plain black one, so i just got them both) but they work just the same. Haven't noticed a difference between both. I would say though, that this one (sentinel) is just a tad bit warmer than the APEX one, but hardly noticeable. I give it 4 stars for the price. It's a pretty steep!
FYI If your wondering about shipping, I ordered it on a sat/sun and it got to me on thursday. I live in NYC, and apperently, it shipped from like Ohio. Coulda got here sooner if they processed quicker, but that slowed it down. Amazingly, the FEDEX ground shipping took 2 days after they picked up from the NorthFace distribution factory."

"There are plenty of fleece type jackets out there that are warm and comfortable but none even come close to this one, this is the BMW of soft shells..Its great in cool fall weather and even does the job in very cold weather, not to mention its a great looking jacket (the pic does not do it justice). Worth the price, highly recommend!"

"I bought this jacket for the cold, windy winters in oklahoma and it meets all expectations. If it's really cold, an extra layer is needed under the jacket, but other than that everything is great!"
