"Let's face it, we're talking about a duffel bag. It has a zipper, some straps and a cavernous opening to put stuff in. I put a lot of stuff in mine. What makes it better than other duffel bags?

- It provides a fair amount of water/moisture resistance. It certainly isn't waterproof but the flap over the zipper and the material itself provides a lot of protection.

- The bag has a heavy-duty zipper with a nice large pull. This becomes especially handy when you have packed more than you should have and need that extra oomph to get the bag closed.

- The backpack straps are simple in their design yet perform flawlessly. There have been so many times I've had to throw the bag over my shoulder and run to catch a flight or needed my hands for something else.

- The daisy chain around the bag is great for attaching extra stuff, tying down, etc

- The color makes it easily recognizable as it shoots out of the baggage carousel.

I have had this bag for just over a year now and it has been all over the world. I can't think of anything that I would want to improve or an instance where the bag failed me."

Base Camp Duffel XL

"I have had the XL Base Camp duffel for 5 years now. It is still going strong. I originally bought it because I once was traveling on a commercial airliner with a nylon duffel and when I picked up my bag from check out it was soaked and smelled of fish. All my clothes were ruined and I ended up spending a part of my trip buying new clothes. I bought this duffel and have never had any problems with clothes getting wet or soiled. I put everything in it and just check it in.I just bought the medium size for smaller trips. Highly recommended."

"I recently purchased the medium base camp duffel for a month long trip through China, Mongolia and Siberia. I've never had a bag better suited for tough extensive travel. Our trip included a lot of trekking/hiking, train travel, buses and flights. We traveled through cold dry conditions, snow, rain and heat. The bag was light, packed a LOT of stuff and durable. It was easy to throw over your shoulder AND use as a backpack. No heavy cumbersome wheels and no heavy backpack waistband in your way when you find yourself needing to throw your bag over your shoulder while running to catch a connecting train or flight.

This is the BEST travel bag I've ever purchased and look forward to using it again and again."
