"At first I was skeptical about spending this knd of money on a jacet but now that iI have it I am glad that i did. I am afreshman in college and i frequently have to walk to my classes, this jacket keeps me dry and warm and if you coupe it with a hoody (hooded sweatshirt) it works fantastic in the snow. I would possibly buy another if i wasnt a broke college student."

"I bought this jacket after looking at several others online but was unable to hold them in person. I was a little nervous about buying what looked like such a light jacket because I wanted a warm, windproof jacket for Fall/Winter motorcycling. After looking at all of the down jackets on the website, I was still uncertain so I decided to give the pros at 180 Post Street (San Francisco) a call. David suggested immediately two jackets that would work for me. I haven't really tested out the M REDPOINT OPTIMUS JACKET yet, but will review it when or if I need to wear it. The M Apex Bionic is awesome. Tonight was mid 40'sF and I was riding with a short sleeve button-up shirt underneath and felt no wind penetration at 60mph. This Jacket rocks and it's super light weight. I think this is an excellent all-rounder and it's sharp looking too!"

"I saw this and thought a while about purchasing it. It is VERY warm. I live in NYC, and it can get cold here. I like the fact that it's very light and it's got an unusual interior At first glance, I thought it'd be cold, but somehow, it allows the jacket to breath and you feel fine. The color I got is in black. If you got this, I would recommend it in black, or in it's dark blue color. (not denim color, get the dark blue) It's also a great looking jacket. The picture doesn't do it justice. I like the fact that it has a zipper pocket on the top, but don't like the fact that it does not have internal pockets. Would have preferred at least 1 for simple things like my headphones, or cellphone or something.
On cold days, you will need a sweater or something warm like that for it to keep you warm though. But if it's like between 45-60 degree's you can wear this with just a t-shirt underneath, and it should keep you warm.45-50 degrees and below, you'll need to consider a sweater underneath though, so just keep that in mind. I'll try it when it get's to the 30's and possibly lower with a sweater when it get's colder though. But I'll find out soon (since it's already late oct.)
Lastly, the other thing I like about it, is that it's water-resistant. It was raining for the whole weekend and wore it fri-sun, and I just jumped up and down when it got wet, and shook my arms, and the water droplets just dropped off. I had an umbrella, but the cool thing was that they just beaded right off. I wouldn't say it's 'water proof'. But it works great with an umbrella.
One downside though, is that the wind does kind of get inside. Especially if it's 50 and below. You'll feel it, so if it's a windy day, I would recommend a sweater. If it's a calm day and just cold, I think you could do a t-shirt down to 50 degrees, no problem. Windy, and below 50, use a sweater or something warmer. You'll especially feel the cold from the wind on the sleeves. The good thing from this one that the M Sentinel doesn't have, is that the sleeves have velcro thingy's at the end to tighten them. You have NO idea how useful that is. They actually keep the warmth in. I wish the Sentinel had that, and inside pockets. Both models need inside pockets.
In closing, it's a great jacket. You'l be VERY pleased, it's made, and works very well. As for comparing, I bought a M Sentinel Thermal, but in Denim Blue (because I liked them both and wanted just a plain black one, so i just got them both) but they work just the same. Haven't noticed a difference between both. I would say though, that the (sentinel) is just a tad bit warmer than the APEX one, but hardly noticeable. The APEX feels a little stiffer than the Sentinel, but they both feel fine. I give it 4 stars for the lack of interior pockets. But it's still reasonable, and a great jacket. It looks much better than the picture too! It looks great on you.
FYI If your wondering about shipping, I ordered it on a sat/sun and it got to me on thursday. I live in NYC, and apperently, it shipped from like Ohio. Coulda got here sooner if they processed quicker, but that slowed it down. Amazingly, the FEDEX ground shipping took 2 days after they picked up from the NorthFace distribution factory."

"My girlfriend had purchased this jacket for me and the first day i wore it I was very impressed. Since SC has crazy weather I was able to wear it In the Cold morning throughout the day as it was warming up, comfortably. This jacket is extremely breathable and extremely light for the protection it gives. It's water block is also serves as a stain defense. i spilled some sauce on it, and the sauce beaded up like rain-x and dabbed it off with a napkin and no stain!
This jacket is so versitile i couldn't leave my girlfriend without it, so now we both have one and wear it almost everyday, matching!! =)"
